  9. an asset.  Asset Repair and Maintenance Scheduling system (ARMS) has two basic
  10. goals:  to ensure maximum asset availability and to provide cost control.  The
  11. keys to maximizing asset availability are the reduction of down-time, and the
  12. maximization of the repair schedule.  ARMS achieves this by reducing expensive
  13. emergency repairs and scheduling all required work at once.  ARMS provides
  14. cost control of labor, parts, and sub-contractors by estimates, quotes, and
  15. standards.  ARMS further controls the over and under maintenance of assets to
  16. prolong operating life and reduce spare unit requirements.  ARMS can include a
  17. full shop control system, parts inventory and purchasing, and financials.
